With reference to my despatch No. 30 of 17th

April I have the honour to transmit herewith a list of the

arms and ammunition which arrived in Lashio by rail and

were transported from there over the Burma-Yunnan motor road between 19th February, (the date of despatch of the

first consignment), and 9th May. The list has been abstracted, as before, from details kindly supplied by the Superintendent, Northern Shan States, and supersedes

No record is enclosed on previous lists submitted.

this occasion of munitions remaining at Lashio as their

amount is difficult to judge at any given time.

The

Superintendent reports the total volume of munitions

carried over this route up to the end of April as 4, metric tons of which 3,199 were transported during

April.

2. These munitions continue to be unloaded at

Chefang where the South West Transportation Company are now building wooden frame warehouses with corrugated

iron roofs. The onward carriage in Chinese lorries is

proceeding much more expeditiously than before.
